„By the being that I am, I constantly make an impact on this earth. Everyday is a constant reminder that I fulfill purpose by being my true authentic self. I belong here…“
The garment manufacture we work with is the workspace of 15 beautiful woman and 2 cool brothers, all knowing each other by heart since the manufacture is located in the village where they all grew up and live together.
We came to know the manufacture through my good friend Yasantha, in whose village I lived for more than two years in Sri Lanka. Shortly after we had the idea of our project, word spread quickly (as it does in villages) and we came across the manufacture in our neighbouring village through another good friend and his sister who works there.

The working times are from 8am to 5pm with one hour lunch break and some tea breaks in between. If there is electricity load shedding or heavy rainfall, the electricity gets switched off for a while (sometimes hours) in the whole area, and it’s just time to chill and drink some more tea for a while.
The whole atmosphere and vibe in the manufacture is nice and family-like. You can get a better insight into it through our content on our social medias as well as in the blog article „wallpainting”.

Most people are not really aware about how much handcraft skill it takes to sew a high quality garment and how little appreciation reaches the tailors or seamstress for fulfilling such a basic human need. Among other things, our core intention and value is to give artisans and producers the deserved appreciation and balance for their handcrafts, including proper documentation of the making process of the product so the buyer can see what’s behind their purchase, who made it, where does it come from, and what the direct benefits for the artisans are. Most of the money that
we usually pay for our clothes flows into countless middlemen, companies with all their management, advertisements, shop rents, etc., but not into the actual manufacture and to the people who sew.
We give our brothers and sisters twice their usual salary for our orders and 51% more than the highest fair trade standard! Because this website and the currier is the only link in between you and the manufacture, we can effort to have fair prices with a high allocation for our friends here in Sri Lanka. This is especially helpful during the high inflation and financial crisis the country is facing right now.
Hope you enjoyed reading this article and got a better insight into our manufacture. I heartily invite you to check out our social media platforms like instagram where we share much more and in greater detail about the manufacture and everything.
